A murder investigation has been launched after a man was fatally shot during an early morning attack in south London.

Police were called by the London Ambulance Service at around 2.20am on Sunday to a man collapsed in Penge.

The victim, believed to be aged in his thirties, was pronounced dead at the scene.

Enquiries are underway to confirm his identity and inform next of kin.

The man is believed to have died from gunshot injuries, the Metropolitan Police said.

The man was found on Croydon Road, near the junction with Tremain Road.

A crime scene remains in place and a full forensic examination is ongoing.

There have been no arrests.
