A man has been charged with causing death by dangerous driving following a fatal collision in Clapham.

Police rushed to Clapham High Street following reports that a pedestrian had been hit by a car at around 2.41am on Sunday, July 9.

Despite the best efforts of paramedics, a 27-year-old man was pronounced dead at the scene.

Wahab Zahid, 19, from Dagenham, was arrested and charged with causing death by dangerous driving and failing to stop at the scene of a collision.

He will appear in custody at Highbury Corner Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, July 15.
