A paramedic was doused in a mystery liquid as she treated a man in east London last night.

Police were called to Whitechapel after reports of the woman having the substance thrown over her while attending to a man suffering chest pains.

The London Ambulance Service Joint Response Units Twitter account posted: “Responded with @MPSTowerHam to a paramedic who had an unknown substance thrown over them whist treating a patient.”

A spokesman added: “It was odourless fluid, probably water but that was not known at the time. The paramedic is well but it’s not what we should have to put up with”.

Police confirmed they were called to the incident in Whitechapel Road at about 10.30pm last night, but said there were no arrests.

“Officers attended and established that the female paramedic had attended the location to treat a male suffering from chest pains.

“Whilst treating the male, a liquid substance was thrown over her.

“Enquiries were made by officers in attempt to trace who threw the liquid but no suspects were identified.

“The paramedic did not suffer any adverse effects from the substance and did not require any medical treatment.”
