A murder investigation has been launched after a young man died five days after being stabbed in south-east London.

The 21-year-old died in hospital this morning after he was admitted with serious injuries following the attack on Saturday evening.

Police and paramedics had been called to reports of a stabbing in Molesworth Street, off Lewisham High Street, at about 8.40pm.

The victim has yet to be identified but police said his next of kin have been informed.

Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are leading the murder investigation.

A post-mortem examination will take place “in due course”.

No arrests have been made and police have appealed for witnesses.
