A body found on the Isle of Sheppey has sparked a murder hunt.

Detectives were called to Warden Bay Road in Leysdown on the Isle of Sheppey, Kent, between the Little Groves caravan site and the Isle of Sheppey Holiday Village, just before 6am.

The death of the man, who has not been named, is being treated as "suspicious" and a murder inquiry has been launched by the Kent and Essex Serious Crime Directorate.

Details about the injuries sustained by the man have not been disclosed. Police have appealed for anyone with information to come forward.

Detective Chief Inspector Jon Clayden said: "We would like to speak to anyone who may have seen or heard anything on or near this stretch of beach between 8pm last night and 6am this morning."

Anyone with information is asked to call officers at Kent Police on 101, or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
