A City worker accused of murdering a police officer before chopping up his body and dissolving it in acid sobbed as he told the Old Bailey he is not a “savage”.

Stefano Brizzi, 50, allegedly strangled PC Gordon Semple during a chemsex party at his flat after they had met up for S&M sex through gay dating app Grindr.

He was caught six days later with parts of the officer’s body in a bath of blue-green acid, and is accused of also trying to eat some of the flesh.

However, Brizzi, a former web developer for Morgan Stanley, told jurors he did not “deliberately kill” PC Semple but he died during a sex game gone wrong.

Describing the sexual role play, Brizzi said: “I would like to stress this was all consensual.

“We were obviously two men who were mature, old, in our own fields professionally successful - we were no savages.”

He broke down in tears as he told the court PC Semple, 58, had “begged” to be tied up, put on a dog collar, and choked so he was breathless during sex.

“I was trying to please his desires - unfortunately that’s how the whole thing had gone wrong,” he said.

“He really begged for it, he wanted it.

“I supposed he was doing his best to please me.”

PC Semple, 58, died on April 1, after agreeing to meet Brizzi at his Bermondsey flat for a bondage and drugs party.

Italian-born Brizzi then bought saws to chop up the body, and was caught six days later with buckets of flesh and body parts, and his bath filled with a blue-green acid mixture.

They met through gay dating app Grindr, and started having consensual sex before PC Semple indicated he wanted to move to bondage role play, said Brizzi.

“He was kissing my boots and my leather chaps,” he said.

“I interpreted this as willing on his part to become a more active submissive, to start the game of submissive and dominant.

“At that point there was some verbal exchange between us, he was calling me daddy, boss and sir.

“I called him puppy and obedient dog, and when I used the word dog he looked at me and asked me: ‘Could I please be called that sir?’.”

Brizzi said PC Semple voluntarily put on a mask and asked to wear a collar and leash like a dog.

He agreed to be tied to the bed and was walked around the room like a dog, but Brizzi said he also asked to be “choked” so that he was struggling to breathe.

“That was the very first time I had done it, I wasn’t into that kind of thing but I knew this kind of thing people were doing it,” he said.

Brizzi said as the game went on it became increasingly unfamiliar to him and “dangerous” but PC Semple appeared to be enjoying it.

He said they agreed a “safe word” - red - if the bondage became too much for PC Semple, but Brizzi tearfully told the jury: “He never said red.”

Brizzi, a crystal meth addict, has admitted trying to get rid of the body after the officer died

He has pleaded guilty to obstructing a coroner but denies murder.

The trial continues.
