This is the moment people were forced to run for cover as thugs sent fireworks shooting down a high street.

Video footage shows the rockets being aimed at cars shortly after midnight in Ilford yesterday.

Four people seek cover as about 20 fireworks explode around them.

The video was recorded by Aiyma Sabir, a 19-year-old law student who had been spending a night in with cousins.

She said: “I didn’t know what was going on. I heard the loud bangs, and thought I would take a video.

“I think the group of boys just set them off and ran.”

A Met spokesman said officers were called to Ilford Lane but no one was hurt and no arrests were made.
