A man has been charged with murder after a 49-year-old was stabbed to death in east London on Boxing Day.
Jurejs Vankovs, 38, was charged on Tuesday with the murder of Michael Murphy who died after being stabbed in Cranwood Street, Shoreditch, at 3.10am.
He was also charged with possession of a bladed article.
The Metropolitan Police said Mr Murphy’s family continue to be supported by specially trained officers.
Detective Chief Superintendent James Conway, who is responsible for policing in Hackney and Tower Hamlets, said previously: "Our thoughts are with Michael's family at this unimaginably difficult time.
"That this tragedy occurred over the Christmas period will be shocking to many and I reiterate DCI Allen’s appeal for witnesses who were in the area to come forwards."
Mr Murphy's death comes amid a series of fatal stabbings in the capital that took place on Christmas Eve, Christmas Day and New Year's Eve.
Teenager Harry Pitman was fatally stabbed as he waited to watch New Year’s Eve fireworks on Primrose Hill.
Vankovs will appear in custody at Barkingside Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.
