Scotland Yard has rejected a plea to investigate a female barrister for attempting to pervert the course of justice after a sexual encounter outside Waterloo station.

The QC has been accused of falsely claiming she was sexually assaulted by a City solicitor so she could maintain anonymity after the pair were caught having sex after a boozy lunch.

The woman originally accepted a caution for outraging public decency.

Graeme Stening, 51, refused to accept the caution and faced a trial — which would have lead to the female QC being named in court. She then told police she was too drunk to consent and so must have been sexually assaulted, meaning she was granted lifetime anonymity.

A senior Met officer has since ruled there is insufficient evidence to charge Mr Stening with sexual assault. A source told the Mail police interviewed witnesses who say the woman seemed to be consenting to everything.

Amarjit Bhachu, Mr Stening’s lawyer, said: “It was apparent from the outset the motive was to maintain anonymity.”

The Met said: “There is no investigation into perverting the course of justice.” It said it was still considering the woman’s request to have her caution expunged.
