A London policeman was recovering in hospital today after being stabbed outside the Gare du Nord train station in Paris as he returned home from attending Euro 2016.

The 25-year-old, a Met officer based in Westminster, was off duty when he was attacked and stabbed in the stomach on Sunday night.

The victim was with his wife who said there was a “verbal dispute.”

Her husband had been supporting Iceland in their 5-2 defeat against France and was appearently wearing a multi-coloured Iceland and France scarf.

Scotland Yard said the officer’s injuries were not life threatening and he was recovering in hospital.
