Police are hunting a man who followed a woman into a building in Canary Wharf before sexually assaulting her.

The victim was walking in the Canary Wharf area around 7.40pm on February 15 when a stranger began following her.

“The male followed the woman into a building where she was sexually assaulted,” said a Scotland Yard spokesperson on Monday.

The woman’s screams alerted residents who rushed to help the woman, and the man fled.

Police on Monday released CCTV footage of a man they would like to trace.

Detective Chief Inspector Angela Thompson of the Met’s Central East BCU said: “A thorough investigation into this incident is ongoing, however attempts to identify a man seen on CCTV footage around the time of the incident have not yet been successful.

“As such, I am releasing video footage today and I ask members of the public, in particular those who live or work in the E14 area, to watch carefully to see if they recognise the man shown. If you know who he is, please make contact and share his name with us.”

Anyone with information should call 101 quoting reference 6955/15Feb. To remain anonymous, please contact the independent charity Crimestoppers.
