This is the first picture of a teenager stabbed to death in south east London.

Mazaza Owusu-Mensah, 18, was knifed in Edington Road, Abbey Wood at about 5.30pm on Saturday, March 6.

Paramedics battled to save the teenager but he died at the scene.

Unverified social media footage appears to show family members crying as they lay down flowers and candles at the spot where he fell.

One tribute posted on Snapchat read: “RIP Maz. [We were] brothers. I’m gonna miss you, we’ll link up soon. Life feels so different I can’t take it in. We had big dreams bro, I’m gonna miss you lord knows it ain't gonna be the same without you.”

Mr Owusu-Mensah’s murder comes amid a spate of teenage knife deaths in the capital, with four killings since February 26. The latest victim, a 19-year-old man, was stabbed to death in Tottenham on Monday.

Detective Chief Inspector Darren Jones, who is leading the investigation in Mr Owusu-Mensah’s killing, said: “We are moving at a pace with our ongoing enquiries into the circumstances around Mazaza’s death but I am still keen to hear from anyone who has information that they have not yet shared with my team.

“Mazaza died on a residential street during lockdown when people would have been at home. It is very likely that a number of people saw what happened and I am keen to hear from anyone who has information but is yet to come forward.

“Were you in Edington Road around the time of the incident? Did you drive through the area and perhaps have dash-cam footage that could assist my team?

“Another young life has been ended at the point of a blade, another family is left devastated – if you have seen information on social media or have any other information about who is responsible, we would encourage you to do the right thing - come forward and tell us what you know.”
