An international manhunt is under way for a man accused of a series of burglaries including a £25million raid on F1 heiress Tamara Ecclestone’s mansion in west London.

Alfredo Lindley is said to have led burglaries in December 2019 at Kensington and Chelsea properties belonging to Ms Ecclestone, Frank Lampard and the deceased former owner of Leicester City Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha.

Italian authorities also accuse him of raiding the home of Patrick Vieira, now Crystal Palace manager, in 2009.

Lindley, 40, is believed to be in Belgrade, the capital of Serbia.

He is known to use 19 alias names including Daniel Vukovic, Ljubomir Radosavljevic and Ljubomir Romanov.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Scotland Yard said: “Detectives from Specialist Crime are seeking a man known as Ljubomir Romanov.

“He is wanted for questioning in respect of a series of high value burglaries committed in December 2019 in the borough of Kensington and Chelsea. The enquiry continues.”

The BBC said it obtained documents showing the Peruvian national has a criminal record in Italy for scams and burglaries under multiple identities dating back to 1995.

Under the Ljubomir Romanov name, Lindley appeared before a court in Belgrade in August facing extradition to the UK.

But authorities refused the case brought by the Republic of Serbia’s specialised organised crime department and Lindley is still believed to be in the city.

About £25m of jewellery, gems and cash was stolen in what is believed to have been the UK’s largest domestic burglary.

A gang also targeted the west London home of former Chelsea FC midfielder and manager Frank Lampard and his television presenter wife Christine, getting away with £50,000 of watches and jewellery.

Almost £1m of watches, cash and a collection of Thai Buddha pendants was taken from the property of Mr Srivaddhanaprabha, which had been turned into a shrine by his family after he died in a helicopter crash in 2018.

The three raids were carried out over 13 days by an international gang of criminals who flew between the UK and Italy, Sweden and Japan.

Almost none of the stolen property has been recovered.

Lindley is listed as the co-owner of a construction business in Belgrade, the BBC said.

According to his Serbian Government-issued ID, his home address is in the town of Obrenovac, a municipality of Belgrade.

Jovanovic will be sentenced on November 15 alongside Italian nationals Alessandro Maltese, 45, and Alessandro Donati, 44, who were also extradited to the UK and pleaded guilty to conspiracy to burgle.

Lindley and his legal representatives did not respond when contacted by the BBC.
