Police are hunting a suspect after a man threatened to stab a Tube worker in the neck at a busy station in north London.

The man became aggressive towards a member of staff who challenged him when he passed through the gates at Belsize Park underground station without a ticket.

Just over an hour later, he allegedly pushed through the ticket barriers at Hampstead underground station before threatening another Tube worker with a champagne bottle he was carrying.

Officers said he appeared to be intoxicated during the incident.

British Transport Police officers today released CCTV images of a man they want to speak to in connection with the threats made to Tube staff at 6.20pm and 7.30pm on July 19.

Police said the suspect also became abusive to staff when he was challenged after entering Hampstead underground station without a ticket at 5.25pm on August 12.

Investigating officer PC Chris Howe said: “Everyone has a right to work without fear of abuse or attack, and railway station staff are no exception.

"This behaviour will not be tolerated.

“We are investigating a series of incidents in which members of staff were threatened and I would like to hear from anyone who recognises the man shown in the CCTV images, as he may have information which could help with the investigation.”
