A man was kidnapped in his own car before being held at gunpoint and robbed by a gang of thugs in north London, police said.

The 42-year-old victim was bundled into the back of his Black BMW 1 Series by three men who followed him into the car when it was parked in West Kilburn's Portnall Road late at night.

After dragging him into the back of the vehicle, the trio drove off with him inside and subjected him to a “vicious attack”, Scotland Yard said.

He was threatened and hit him with a handgun but eventually managed to fight his way out of the car to a place of safety.

Officers have now appealed for witnesses and anyone with information about the kidnap and robbery on Sunday, November 20 to come forward.

Firefighters discovered the BMW abandoned and on fire in Hardinge Road, Kensal Rise at about 3.30am the following morning.

Police said the victim, who was taken to hospital for treatment after the attack, also had his Bvlgari watch worth £200 stolen.

All three suspects are described as black men and aged 25 to 35, who wore dark clothing with their hoods pulled up.

The first suspect is described as of slim build and about 5ft 10ins tall. The second and third suspects are both described as of slim, muscular build.

Police said suspect three also wore a silver mask covering the top half of his face.

Detective Constable Amy Holt, the investigating officer from Westminster's Serious Crime Unit, said: "This was a horrific ordeal for the victim and it has left him very distressed. We are determined to catch those responsible and we would appeal to anyone with information or any witnesses to come forward.

"We would also remind people to be vigilant and be aware of their surroundings, especially when it is dark. If you see something that is suspicious or makes you feel unsafe, get to a place of safety as soon as possible and call the police."

Anyone with information should call Westminster CID on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously by calling 0800 555 111 or by visiting www.crimestoppers-uk.org.
