A man has been charged with the murder of his father and the attempted murder of two children at a house in east London.

Suluk Ahmed, 31, faces accusations that he stabbed 79-year-old Jamir Ali to death at their home in Huddleston Close, Bethnal Green.

Mr Ali was found suffering from multiple stab wounds and was taken to hospital by paramedics for treatment but later died from a heart attack, police said.

Ahmed is also alleged to have attacked an 11-year-old girl and a two-year-old boy at the property on Sunday evening.

Both children are expected to make a full recovery from their injuries.

Ahmed, of Huddleston Close, is set to appear before Thames Magistrates' Court tomorrow.
