Man charged in connection with Stamford Hill attacks

Abdullah Qureshi, 28, will appear at Thames Magistrates’ Court on Saturday, September 4.

He has been charged with one count of racially or religiously aggravated wounding or grievous bodily harm; four counts of racially or religiously aggravated common assault and one count of racially or religious aggravated criminal damage.

A 30-year-old man was hit with a bottle in Cazenove Road, Hackney at 6.40pm.

Just 30 minutes later a teenage boy, aged 14, reported being attacked in nearby Holmdale Terrace.

At 8.30pm on Stamford Hill a 64-year-old man was hit in the face and pushed to the floor, breaking a bone in his foot, detectives said.

He was taken to hospital for treatment and was later discharged.

Senior figures from both the local Jewish and Muslim communities condemned the attacks.
