A 20-year-old man was today due in court after a police officer was stabbed in the head in south London.

Carlos Djau, of Cook's Road, Walworth is charged with two counts of attempted murder of two PCs after an attack on Saturday evening.

Police were called to an address in the same street at around 8pm to reports of a man armed with a knife and holding a baby.

When officers arrived on the scene a man is said to have put the baby down and attacked police.

A male PC in his 30s was stabbed in his head and shoulder during the incident. His injuries were not said to be life-threatening.

Scotland Yard said Djau will appear in custody at Camberwell Green Magistrates' Court on Monday.
