A man has been arrested at a London airport on suspicion of “Syria-related terrorism offences”, police said.

Officers arrested a 32-year-old man at Luton Airport the day after Boxing Day, on Thursday evening, after he arrived on an inbound flight.

The man was detained by counter-terror officers, the Met confirmed.

The force said he was arrested on suspicion of preparation of terrorist acts, contrary to Section 5 of the Terrorism Act.

He was taken to a police station in the Bedfordshire area but was released on bail on Friday and is due to return to a south London police station in mid January.

"The arrest is Syria-related and not related to any offences at the airport," a spokesman said.
