A man accused of stabbing a train passenger in the head after allegedly shouting "I'm going to kill a Muslim" has been remanded in custody today.

Adrian Brown, 38, is accused of carrying out the knife attack at Forest Hill station on Monday afternoon.

Brown, who also uses the name Adrian McKenzie, appeared in the dock this morning to face charges of attempted murder, possession of a knife, and assault by beating.

Brown, wearing grey prison-issue clothes, only spoke to confirm his name and age during the brief hearing.

Victim Muhammed Askar Ali suffered injuries to his head and torso in the attack, Westminster magistrates court heard.

He is also accused of attacking Filipa Dias at the Honor Lea hostel in Forest Hill where he was living, on the same day as the alleged attempted murder.

Brown was remanded in custody to appear at Southwark crown court on January 11.

He had not entered pleas to any of the charges.
