Loose Women panellist Saira Khan has told how she received a vile death threat after she criticised a Muslim preacher on Instagram.

The 47-year-old, who is a Muslim, notified police after a social media user left the message on a bikini picture of the TV star that read: “If you value your life keep the f*** out of Islam.”

The comment came after the ITV show’s panellist posted the image in response to a Muslim preacher saying Islamic women plucking their eyebrows “is a sin.”

While her photo was met with messages of praise from some Instagram users, the anonymous commenter wrote: “Keep you f****** mouth shut! Your (sic) not a Muslim nor do you represent anything to do with Islam!

“Your white masters have given you what you desire as a sell out reporter!!! If you value your life keep the f*** out of Islam.”

Ms Khan shamed the commenter on Twitter by sharing a screenshot of the comment in a post in which she tagged the Metropolitan Police on Monday.

This was again met with messages of support from her fans, with one of her followers tweeting: “Disgusting. I hope this is followed through Saira. Don't let it get to you.”

Another wrote: “Words fail me...you shouldn't have to receive and deal with this stuff.”

A spokesman for the Met said the police were aware of the incident, but it was not immediately clear if Ms Khan had officially reported the abuse.

Her Instagram bikini post, which pictured the star lying on a towel in the sun, carried the caption: “I woke up to news that A Muslim Preacher is saying that "plucking eyebrows" for Muslim women is a sin.

“Here's my response - kiss my 🍑 you backward prehistoric dinosaur!”
