A pedestrian has been killed in a hit-and-run collision on a busy south London road.

The man, in his 40s, died at the scene after being struck on Wandsworth Road, Lambeth at 10.50pm on Monday.

Police are urgently hunting the driver after they failed to stop at the scene.

A Met spokesman said: “Next of kin have been informed and are being supported by specialist officers.

“The driver of the car did not stop at the scene.

“Urgent enquiries to trace it are ongoing.

“Road closures and a crime scene are in place.”
