Two teenagers have been stabbed to death less than a mile from each other on a night of bloodshed in north London.

Police have launched separate murder probes after the twin stabbings in the Kentish Town area on Monday evening.

Officers were first called to Bartholomew Road, a residential street, at 8.30pm, where they found a teenager suffering from “stab injuries”.

Paramedics gave first aid but could not save the victim and he was pronounced dead at the scene shortly after 9pm.

He is thought to be the sixth teenager to have been stabbed to death in the capital so far this year.

Police were called again to reports of a stabbing in Malden Road, about 15 minutes’ walk away, where they found another young man with “serious stab injuries”.

The victim, believed to be aged around 20, was also pronounced dead at the scene after first aid efforts failed.

Police have not made any arrests yet and enquiries are under way to establish if the two incidents are linked.

Additional police patrols have been dispatched across Camden in the early hours of Wednesday, supported by officers from the Territorial Support Group and Operation Sceptre.

A section 60 order under the Criminal Justice and Public Order Act has been put in place until 7am on Wednesday in order to help prevent further violence.

The first attack took place just metres away from where a candlelit vigil was held for another teenage stabbing victim on Monday night.

Lewis Blackman, 19, who grew up on the Peckwater estate in Kentish Town, was killed in Kensington on Sunday.

Sarah Hayward, a councillor for King's Cross, tweeted: "Absolutely heartbroken by reports of numerous stabbings in Camden tonight.

"My thoughts are with families, friends and emergency services. Appalling news."

Post-mortem examinations for both Tuesday’s victims will be arranged in due course, police said.

Any witnesses, or anyone with information that may assist police, is urged to call officers via 101. To remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111 or visit the crimestoppers-uk.org website.
