A gang who buried drugs and stashed weapons in a children’s park in north west London have been jailed.
The five men, who were found guilty of supplying cocaine, and heroin, hid their weapons in Kingsbury Sports Ground, Brent, to avoid being caught by police.
Harrow Crown Court heard their stash was discovered when one of the gang members was seen leaving the park by a police officer on January 8.
Detectives from Trident Gang Crime Command swept the park and found crack cocaine as well as heroin with a street value of £2,000.
Another four gang members were seen at the park leaving in a separate car. Police stopped and searched the vehicle and discovered £3,000 worth of heroin.
All of the men were arrested and police tracked down a fifth gang member who was subsequently arrested.
Further searches of the park led to the discovery of a sawn-off shotgun, revolver, a pistol, a de-activated revolver as well as drugs found buried underground.
Last Friday all of the men were handed jail sentences totalling to 48 years.
Sean Cephinis, 33, of Clifton Avenue, Wembley, was jailed for seven years and two months after he admitted conspiracy to supply and intent to supply crack cocaine and heroin.
Aamir Yousef, 24, of Greenhill Road, Harlesden, was jailed for eight years after he was found guilty of supplying crack cocaine, heroin and cannabis.
Tevin Forde, 20, of Mill Hill, was sentenced to five years in jail after admitting conspiracy to supply cocaine, heroin and cannabis.
Kamran Khan, 24, of Edgware and Romaine Callender, of Bushey, were sentenced to 12 years and 10 years and six months respectively after they were found guilty of conspiracy to supply crack cocaine, heroin and cannabis and possession of a prohibited weapon and ammunition.
Detective Constable Richard Vanderpuije of Trident said: “I am pleased that these lethal firearms and ammunition have been removed from the streets of London.
“Drug dealing can only operate in an environment where fear or threat of violence is prevalent and there is no doubt that these firearms would have been used to injure, threaten or hurt someone.
“I hope the sentences will serve as a warning that officers will pursue and bring to justice those who blight the lives of London communities through their criminal activity.”
