A young man has been stabbed to death in east London.

The 24-year-old is the third man to have died this weekend in London from fatal stab wounds.

Police said they were called to Telegraph Mews, Ilford, at 6.10am this morning to reports of a group fighting.

When officers arrived at the scene, they could not find any injured people.

Shortly after, they were then called to Ilford Lane to reports of a man with stab wounds.

Officers attended and treated him at the scene before paramedics took him to hospital, where he was pronounced dead at 12.36pm. His next of kin have been informed.

A man in his 20s was also brought into an east London hospital with stab injuries shortly afterwards, believed to be linked to the incident at Telegraph Mews. His condition has been assessed as non-life threatening.

There have been no arrests and enquiries continue.

It is the second fatal stabbing in Redbridge in five days, after Mohammed Usman Mirza, 19, was knifed repeatedly in a fight in Fullwell Avenue, Ilford, at 10.20pm on Tuesday.

Redbridge Council leader Jas Athwal tweeted on Sunday afternoon: “Distressing news emerging of another young life lost to knife crime in Seven Kings.

“Desperately need an early intervention program at regional & national level to deal with this type of crime which is destroying young lives/families & spreading fear and anxiety in our communities.”

The stabbing was the third fatal incident this weekend across the capital.

On Saturday, a 27-year-old man was stabbed to death at a house party in Whitechapel. Three others wre injured but their conditions are not believed to be life-threatening.

On Sunday, a man in his 20s died after getting stabbed outside a train station in west London.

Police were called to Drayton Green Road near West Ealing Station 1.18am today and found the victim in his car, suffering from a stab wound.
