Neighbours of missing EastEnders actress Gemma McCluskie, who is feared to have been murdered and her torso dumped in a canal, reported hearing a loud argument at her home before she went missing, it emerged today.

Detectives are still questioning McCluskie’s brother Tony, 35, about her killing after he was arrested just 48 hours after appealing for information to find her.

Police frogmen found the torso floating in Regent’s Canal in Hackney on Tuesday. Sources say the arms, legs and head had been cut off with a sharp instrument, possibly to prevent identification.

Police say they cannot confirm the body is Miss McCluskie, 29, until they get forensic confirmation, which may take another day. However a police spokesman said they believed they know the identity of the victim.

Relatives of the actress, who played Kerry Skinner in the BBC soap in 2001, were said to be “fearing the worst”.
