An earlier security alert at the Houses of Parliament was a false alarm, police have said.

Scotland Yard said: "Police were responding to a security alert and there was limited access. It looked like a suspect device was found in reception.

"The incident has now been stood down."

A device is believed to have been found in the X-Ray machines at the entrance to Parliament.

Roads around Parliament Square were cordoned off but have now reopened.
