A hotel manager was hit in the face by a cappuccino cup as he tried to break up a fight in a four-star suite, a court heard.

Muna Guled, 22, threw the cup amid a scene of flying plates and cutlery at the Thistle Marble Arch Hotel.

Guled, a health and social care student at London Metropolitan University, had been left bleeding after being struck in the head with another coffee cup and she hurled one back during the melee on 14 November.

Manager Herkus Milasevicius was hit by the cup when he came into the room to intervene, suffering a cut to the head, Westminster magistrates’ court heard.

Prosecutor Denise Johnson said: “There were two people having a fight, they were throwing items at each other. This defendant threw a cup and it missed the person she was aiming for and hit the manager.”

The other woman involved was not charged with any offence. Guled, of Ealing, pleaded guilty to one count of assault. She was given an eight-week community order and ordered to pay Mr Milasevicius £150 compensation.
