This is the first picture of a woman knifed to death in north London.

Leyla Mtumwa, 38, was found critically injured by police at an address in Haringey on Good Friday.

She died from stab wounds in her neck and chest, Scotland Yard said.

An online fundraising page set up after her death says it aims to raise £5,000 to have Ms Mtumwa’s body returned to her native Tanzania.

It has so far racked up £2,300 in donations.

One person wrote: “May your beautiful sole rest in peace.”

Ms Mtumwa is believed to be the 30th person stabbed to death in London this year.

Kema Salum, 38, was today charged over Ms Mtumwa’s murder and is being held by police.

He is due to appear at Highbury Magistrates Court on April 2.

A Met Police spokesman said: “The Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating and are not seeking anyone else in connection with this incident."
