A young man has been stabbed to death in a knife attack in a north-east London street.

Police and paramedics rushed to the scene of the incident in Hackney at about 4.45pm on Thursday.

Officers had received reports of a man suffering a stab injury on Christie Road at the junction with Cassland Road.

London’s Air Ambulance was also scrambled but the man, believed to be aged in his late 20s, was pronounced dead at the scene at 5.20pm.

No arrests have been made, Scotland Yard said.

A Met Police spokesman said: “His next of kin have been informed. Formal identification awaits. A post-mortem examination will be held in due course.

“The Homicide and Major Crime Command has been informed.”

Road closures have been put in place as an investigation is carried out by detectives.
