Five giant paintings by a street artist dubbed the 'female Banksy' have been stolen from a pop-up gallery on an Islington building site.

The 6ft by 4ft murals of sharks and flowers by London artist Bambi have an estimated value of £20,000.

They were taken overnight on October 8 by thieves who climbed a fence to break into a former shopping and flats complex in Upper Street, Islington, which is being redeveloped.

The piece is worth as much as £20,000

Bambi, whose identity is a closely-guarded secret, became famous in 2011 with the appearance of her striking image of the late Amy Winehouse on a Camden Town doorway.

She has since been commissioned to paint for Rihanna, Robbie Williams, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt.

American actress Michelle Rodriguez, star of Lost, commissioned a Bambi portrait of her then girlfriend, supermodel Cara Delevingne.

Robbie Williams bought Bambi’s image of a baby before his child was born in 2012, while his former Take That colleague Mark Owen spent £20,000 on one of the artist’s works for his 40th birthday.

Singer Adele and Harry Styles, of One Direction, are also believed to own pieces by Bambi.

Anyone with information should contact police in Islington on 101 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
