A man has been rushed to a major trauma centre after a "serious" assault on a tram track in south London.
Police were called to tram tracks close to Black Horse Lane station in Croydon at around 2.45pm on Friday.
One witness on social media said they saw a person with a knife in the area at the time of the attack.
A British Transport Police spokeswoman told the Standard: “Colleagues from the Met and London Ambulance Service (LAS) are also in attendance and a man is being treated for his injuries.”
Paramedics rushed the male victim to a major trauma centre from Woodside Road “as a priority”, LAS said.
Blackhorse Lane and Woodside tram stops were closed due to the incident.
A spokesman for Transport for London said on Twitter: “We currently have no service Addiscombe to Elmers End/Harrington Road due to a police investigation.”
No arrests have been made and enquiries are ongoing.
