Shocking moment man snatches handbag off woman in her 80s and knocks her to ground

This shocking CCTV footage captures the moment a man seized the handbag of an elderly woman, sending her crashing to the ground.

The clip, filmed from a street in Kent, shows the victim walking across the road with the help of a cane and carrying a large bag in her other hand.

A young man then crosses her path, peers into a window and then turns back to speak to her.

As she moves away to continue her journey, he brutally snatches the bag, knocking her over as he flees.

Kent police confirmed a man, in his 30s, had been arrested in connection with a robbery in St John's Avenue, Sittingbourne shortly before 9am on Tuesday morning.

A handbag was stolen from a woman in her 80s, the force reported.

The man, who is from the Sittingbourne area, was arrested at around 3pm.

He is being held in custody.
