An NHS hospital doctor was followed for almost five miles by a man before being attacked in the street.

The woman, 37, suspected she was being pursued as she waited at Shadwell DLR station and tried to shake him off, but he followed her out at Royal Victoria.

She asked two passers-by to accompany her as she dialled 999. But the suspect waited until she was alone, and shoved her to the pavement in Butchers Road, Canning Town.

She suffered cuts and a broken tooth.

Police issued CCTV of a man they want to question about the assault at 6.15pm last Friday. He is described as black and aged about 20.
