Police are hunting the occupants of a car that flipped and crashed into a house in east London last night.

Two men are said to have fled the scene on Heathway in Dagenham following the smash at around 11.30pm on Tuesday.

Witnesses took to Twitter after spotting the "awful" scene.

Cosima (‏@ataliadelrio) wrote: "The crash down heathway is crazy, heard tyres screech and now there's an overturned car in someone's garden, hope no one is hurt."

Abul Kalam posted a picture of the overturned car with the caption: "So this just happened in Heathway, #Dagenham! No one knows how it happened!"

It prompted the response from Jay O'Leary (‏@jayoleary): "Drove past that around half 11. Looks awful."

Scotland Yard said the vehicle was a blue Ford Mondeo and described one of its occupants as being white, 5ft 7ins tall with brown hair, and wearing a beige and black tracksuit top as well as a blue body warmer.

Firefighters also attended the incident - in which no one was injured, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to contact police in Barking and Dagenham on 101. Reports can also be made anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
