Eight young men have been arrested after four teenage boys were stabbed on a south London housing estate.

The boys, aged between 15 and 16, were rushed to hospital after being found suffering knife wounds outside Landor House shortly before 5.30pm last Thursday.

Two 15-year-old boys remain in hospital - one with injuries expected to be life-changing - following the incident in Elmington Estate, Camberwell.

Scotland Yard today said eight arrests, of young men and teen boys aged between 14 and 22, have been made as they appealed for information and moving footage.

A large police presence at the scene of the stabbing last week

Detective Inspector Dean Purvis of Southwark police said: “The community is justifiably concerned by this violent incident and I appeal to the community to come forward with information and help us bring those responsible to account."

The other two victims did not suffer serious injuries and were discharged from hospital, police said.

Det Purvis added: "This remains an active and fast paced investigation and although eight arrests have been made, I remain keen to hear from anyone who saw what happened or has information that would assist the investigation.

“In particular I would like to obtain footage of the incident, whether privately filmed or posted on social media. I urge anyone who becomes aware of footage to contact officers without delay.

“There is no place on our streets for mindless violence such as this and together we need to be resolute in driving that message home.”

Six teenagers were arrested at the scene.

Police subsequently charged a 14-year-old with possession of a bladed article and possession of cannabis. He has been bailed to appear at Camberwell Youth Court on September 5.

A 22-year-old man was arrested on Friday on suspicion of assisting an offender, and a 15-year-old boy was arrested on August 21 on suspicion of violent disorder.

The seven arrested men and teenagers have all been released on bail to a date in mid-September pending further enquiries, police said.

A witness, who did not give her name, described seeing boys running on the grass opposite her flat shortly before the stabbing.

"There were four or five black boys running. All of a sudden I could hear, 'Help, help'," she said.

She added that when she walked up, she saw police officers running and a boy on the floor.

It was just a short walk from where 23-year-old drill rapper Sidique Kamara, known as Incognito, was stabbed to death on August 1.

Anyone who witnessed the incident should call Southwark CID by dialling 101 and quoting reference CAD 5391/16 AUG.
