An innocent bystander was badly injured when a glass was hurled and shattered in his face during a violent fight outside a London train station.

The 27-year-old was hit as he stood out the front of a pub at Liverpool Street after a fight broke out between a group of men.

British Transport Police's Detective Constable Gerard Hughes said: “The victim was enjoying a drink outside the pub when a fight broke out between several other men.

“One of the group threw a glass, but missed his intended target, hitting the victim instead.”

He added the victim suffered damage to his teeth and was left needing 15 stitches and in "considerable pain".

DC Hughes said: “There is no excuse for violence, and, in this case an entirely innocent man was injured.

“The actions of the man who threw this glass are inexcusable. We need to find him."

The force provided no details about the time and date of the incident, but issued the picture of a man they wish to speak to in connection with it.

Anyone with information is asked to contact British Transport Police on 0800 40 50 40, or text 61016, quoting reference ESUB/B7 of 04/03/2015.
