Friends and family of the 20-year-old Portuguese man stabbed to death in Stratford are raising money for his funeral.

Bradley Quaresma was fatally stabbed in the busy West Ham Lane Recreation Ground on Thursday.

Friends of the Portuguese national have now set up a JustGiving page to help his family pay for a ceremony.

“As you all may know already, our beloved Bradley ‘Puto Bre’ Quaresma was brutally taken away from us,” they wrote.

“Let’s honour him one last time and together raise all we can to contribute to his goodbye ceremony.”

The appeal has already raised almost half of its £8000 target with more than 100 people donating and writing tributes.

One wrote: "Life is too ironic to fully understand . It takes sadness to know what happiness is, noise to appreciate silence and absence to value presence . RIP Bradley.”

Another spoke of the “sad news” adding: “Wishing Bre's family and friends all the strength needed in this difficult moment. Rest In Peace Bradley.”

Following news of his death, Mr Quaresma's family issued a heartfelt tribute, describing him as "a smart guy with a big heart."

His relatives said: “Bradley was a very friendly person. He was always keen to help others and the happiest person we have ever met. A smart guy with a big heart.”

Mario Albino Te, of no fixed address, has been charged with murder in connection with Mr Quaresma's death.

The 20-year-old was arrested on Friday and has also been charged with possession of an offensive weapon.

He was due to appear in custody at Thames Magistrates' Court today.

Two boys, aged 16 and 17, were also arrested on suspicion of murder and remain on bail pending further enquiries.
