A 14-year-old boy has been arrested after a teenage girl was stabbed on a Kent high street.

Police were called to reports that a 15-year-old girl was injured in an assault on Mill Street, Maidstone, at 9:05pm on Wednesday.

Officers found the girl with a cut to her side and arrested the boy on suspicion of assault and possession of a knife.

The girl was treated by paramedics for a cut to her side but the injury was not believed to be serious.

The boy has been held in police custody.

A statement from Kent police said: “A number of other people were in the area at the time, however following enquiries there are not believed to have been any other offences.

“Officers are not looking for any other people in connection with the assault.”
