An 11-year-old boy led police on his second high-speed chase in 13 months after his mother took away his PlayStation, authorities in Ohio said.

The boy from Cleveland was arrested after he apparently had an argument with his mother about his Playstation being confiscated, prompting him to steal her car for the third time in just over a year.

The chase on Sunday night ended with the boy crashing the Dodge Durango and being taken into custody at the Cuyahoga County Juvenile Detention Center, Cleveland.com reported.

The shocking chase was caught on video by the officer's dash-cam and shows the car weave into oncoming traffic before speeding off into the distance.

The footage was captured by a Cleveland police officer's dash-cam, showing the boy speed away down the highway.

Officers were called after the mother woke up from bed and found her car keys were missing. She later received a call from the boy’s father saying he saw their son driving down West 117th Street and Memphis Avenue in the north west of the city.

Local media reported that the boy’s father chased after him, and he tried to hide by pulling into a former fire station.

He pulled into a former fire station to hide, and when police came to check the area the boy sped off, shooting through red lights and weaving in and out of traffic, reaching speeds of up to 90mph.

The officer lost sight of the SUV after about four miles, but another Brooklyn officer later picked up the chase. Eventually police called off the operation when they lost him a third time, and later found the car had crashed into a parked truck in the Old Brooklyn neighbourhood.

The SUV had flipped over after the crash, according to local media, and the boy walked out of the SUV and collapsed.

He was reportedly taken to MetroHealth, where he was treated for scrapes and cuts to his hand and wrist.

He reportedly told police he crashed because he was not paying attention to the road.

Cleveland.com said official reports confirmed the boy has been diagnosed with "attention deficit and hyperactivity disorder", "bipolar disorder" and "oppositional defiant disorder".

He had previously stolen his mother's car on October 26, 2017 and led police on a lengthy pursuit at 100mph, and again two weeks before that, claiming he was "bored", reports said.

According to Cleveland.com, Cuyahoga Juvenile Court Judge Denise Rini ruled that the boy was incompetent to stand trial and the charges were dismissed.

He now awaits formal charge in the latest incident.
