Nine men have been arrested following a large violent street brawl in Borough this morning.

The incident, thought to involved multiple stabbings, took place on Borough High Street in the early hours.

Police said they were called to reports of a fight at around 3.30am.

Nine men sustained injuries not thought to be life-threatening, said a Scotland Yard spokesman, who could confirm whether any of the injured were among the nine arrested.

Around midday on Sunday a police cordon remained in place as officers combed the scene for evidence.

It means the road is closed off between Borough Station and the junction with Southwark Street.

Bus routes 21, 35, 40, 133 and 343 are on diversion.

Police are appealing for information and witnesses. Contact officers on 101 if you believe you can help their investigation.
