Bookmakers have put up a reward to help catch a gang of thieves who have raided bookies across London.

The Association of British Bookmakers issued the plea along with detectives from the Met’s Flying Squad hunting the gang over the spate of robberies and attempted hold-ups, which started in July.

Cashiers have been targeted as they were either opening or closing shops in Edmonton, Enfield, Haringey, Leyton, Walthamstow and Hackney.

The reward is available for information leading to the identification, arrest and prosecution of the men responsible.

Peter Craske, from the Association of British Bookmakers, said: "The ABB is offering a reward for information that leads to a successful prosecution.

“We work closely with our members and police forces to keep betting shops as safe as we can, for customers and staff."

The association has not released the reward amount.

On Thursday, Scotland Yard released a series of images of men they would like to speak to.

Detective Sergeant Paul Grimmer, of the Met's Flying Squad, said: "If you recognise any of the men in these pictures, I would urge you to get in touch.

“Bookmakers have been targeted specifically by this gang, in many cases threatening the cashiers and leaving them traumatised."

Anyone with any information is asked to contact the Flying Squad on 020 8345 4226. To remain anonymous, call Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
