A murder investigation has been launched after a woman who was stabbed in Bexley has died from her injuries in hospital.

She was taken to hospital in a critical condition.

The victim died from her injuries on Tuesday, one week after the incident, Scotland Yard revealed on Saturday.

"Her family have been notified and are being supported by specialist officers," a Met Police spokesperson said.

"A post mortem examination will be scheduled in due course."

A man has appeared in court charged in connection with the investigation.

Tony Curant, 33, of Penhill Road was arrested on Saturday, January 20 and was charged with attempted murder the following day.

He appeared at Bromley Magistrates Court on Monday, where he was remanded in custody.

He is next due to appear at the Old Bailey on February 5.
