A motorcyclist has been killed in a crash with a van in south London.

The 37-year-old man was riding in Battersea on Tuesday afternoon when he collided with the van.

Medics battled in a vain attempt to save his life for about an hour.

A Metropolitan Police spokesman said: “When officers arrived, the LAS and HEMS were working on an unresponsive male.

“Sadly a male aged 37 was pronounced deceased at the scene, next of kin have been informed.”

The collision happened in Lombard Road, at the junction with Vicarage Crescent, at about 2.15pm and the man was pronounced dead just after 3.15pm.

The van driver stopped at the scene and was not arrested.

Specialist traffic officers are investigating and remain at the scene.

Witnesses to the collision are asked to call police on 101, quoting the reference CAD 4797/10MAY16.
