A bank executive’s high-flying career lay in tatters today after he was convicted of assaulting a bouncer who ejected him from an upmarket North London bar.

The executive was sacked by Royal Bank of Scotland earlier this year and his career in the financial sector is now "over".

He attacked bouncer Dean Platt, 35, who had stepped in to remove him from the House of Wolf in Islington last November.

The man was also found guilty of assaulting bar manager Daniel Jennings and using racially aggravated threatening behaviour. He was cleared on the charge of racially aggravated assault against Mr Platt.

Judge John Hillen, QC, told him at Blackfriars crown court: “You were a thoroughly respectable, bright, intelligent, professional man with a good career in front of you. Because you were drunk you have lost your good character and your profession.”

Daniel Pawson-Pounds, defending, told the court: “He lost his job with RBS this year and will not be able to work in the financial sector again.”

The man was sentenced to a 12-month community order, which includes 140 hours’ community service, and was ordered to pay £3,500 costs plus compensation of £500 to Mr Platt and £250 to Mr Jennings.
