Anti-semitic Twitter posts probed by police after Arsenal and Spurs FA cup clash

Scotland Yard is examining a series of anti-semitic comments on Twitter following the FA Cup match between Arsenal and Tottenham.

The handful of remarks are said to have been posted by Arsenal supporters during a bitter online war of words between the two groups of fans.

Tensions rose after some Spurs fans threw coins at Theo Walcott as the Arsenal and England forward signalled 2-0 as he was stretchered off the pitch at the Emirates at the weekend.

The Metropolitan Police Football Unit, which investigates hooliganism, said it was aware of the “anti-semitic messages,” which contained references to the Holocaust and gas chambers, and said it was carrying out an “assessment.”
