The wife of actor Timothy Spall has told how she was subjected to the “most intimate” body search by Heathrow security.
Shane Spall said flying to the US to see her husband receive the New York Film Critics Circle Best Actor award this week she was shocked by the thoroughness of the search.
Mrs Spall told the Mail: “Fingers touching lady places that would be called sexual impropriety in the street”.
She said flying from JFK Airport the search was not so intimate, adding: “No hands on me bits and do-dahs”.
A Heathrow spokesman said: “We are sorry that Mrs Spall felt uncomfortable during a search at Heathrow. The safety of our passengers is of utmost importance and we do perform a thorough security check. We also want people to enjoy their journey, so we try to make this as un-intrusive as possible.”
