Emma Watson: Guest editing magazine fit my perfectionist streak

Perfectionist: Emma Watson
7 February 2014

Harry Potter star Emma Watson has said that guest editing a magazine fed her perfectionist streak.

Watson, 23, admitted that in turning the tables from interview subject to journalist she was conscious of being “sensitive to what people might be too personal to share”.

And in an insight into her own attitude to the publicity trail, she said: “Being asked lots of questions about yourself can feel like a bit of an onslaught. I tried to alternate difficult questions with funny, stupid ones.”

But the actress said she enjoyed overseeing the next edition of Wonderland magazine.

“It definitely fed the slightly perfectionist side of my personality. It was a dream to be in control of the final finished product. I never am in other areas of my work.”

She felt lucky to be able to interview figures including Girls star Lena Dunham who “makes me proud to be a 21st century female” and fellow Burberry model, Douglas Booth, whose wife she plays in the new Darren Aaronofsky film, Noah, which is out on April 4.

Filming was suspended for some weeks because of Hurricane Sandy which was “surreal,” she said. “We got the irony of filming an epic biblical movie about a flood and then a storm comes and floods much of New York.”

Watson, who graduates from Brown University in Rhode Island in May, said she feels she has so much more to accomplish as an actress. “I’d love to try theatre.”
