Letitia Wright: London star injured filming Black Panther sequel

Actress Letitia Wright was rushed to hospital after an accident on the set filming the upcoming Black Panther sequel.

The London-based star, 27, plays Shuri Princess of Wakanda in the saga.

Filming in Boston, the actress was hurt in a “stunt rig accident” and received hospital treatment for her minor injuries.

Just hours later, she was released from hospital.

No further details about her injuries have been made public.

Her accident isn’t believed to have caused a delay in the filming schedule for the new movie Black Pantha: Wakanda Forever.

A spokesperson for Disney confirmed: “Letitia Wright sustained minor injuries while filming a stunt for Black Panther: Wakanda Forever. She is currently receiving care in a local hospital and is expected to be released soon.”

Black Panther: Wakanda Forever will be the sequel to the 2018 Marvel film.

She returns to the film cast alongside her fellow stars Daniel Kaluuya, Danai Gurira, Lupita Nyong’o and Angela Bassett.

Their co-star Chadwick Boseman, who played T’Challa aka Black Panther, died aged 43 after a four-year battle with cancer.

Last October, Ms Wright said the tragedy had devastated the whole of the Black Panther cast.

She told NET Porter: “We’re just still mourning Chad, so it’s [reprising my most famous role in Black Panther] not something I even want to think about.

“The thought of doing it without him is kinda strange. We’re just grieving at the moment, so it’s trying to find the light in the midst of it.”
