The Crush: David Duchovny

The sex addict secret agent is newly single
Lotte Jeffs14 August 2014

Look who’s back on the market! It’s David Duchovny. The man who will forever be alien-busting special agent Fox Mulder in our minds has divorced his long-suffering wife of 17 years Téa Leoni.

Not that we’re desperate to rush into anything with the self-confessed sex addict; Crush has watched Californication — the hit US TV show in which Dave plays a slightly shabbier girl-obsessed version of himself — we know how this naughty boy operates… But one must admit, there’s a certain erotic cachet to telling your friends in hushed, sombre tones that your partner is addicted to sex, as they try to look concerned, while picturing the non-stop action you must be getting. We’ve been fans of dirty Duchovny since his X-Files days, when a poster of his handsome if slightly ham-like face stared down at us from our teenage bedroom walls declaring, ‘I Want to Believe.’ Twenty years on and Crush still wants to believe that David is a good bloke and that were we, say, to run into him in the Young Vic bar while watching his old friend and co-star Gillian Anderson in A Street Car Named Desire, we might be in with a shot, or at the very least a G&T and a packet of crisps. Were Mulder and Scully ever an item in real life? Rumours of a relationship have dogged the two stars throughout their careers, but maybe now David is officially single, we might finally find out… The truth is out there!
